Job summary

Black Bear Diner is seeking a General Manager in Emeryville to lead daily operations, supervise front and back of house, and ensure superior guest service. You will manage staffing, training, scheduling, and performance, while driving sales, costs, and quality targets.

The role requires ServSafe certification, strong leadership and communication skills, and a hands-on approach to coaching teams during peak hours. This position is exempt and salaried.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; some college preferred; Restaurant experience desirable.
• No one under 21 is allowed to be a Diner Manager; ServSafe certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guest service aligns with company standards.
• Oversee food prep, cooking and plating per standards.
• Hire, train, and manage team members; approve hires.
• Monitor costs, inventory and profitability; manage payroll.
• Lead staff to maintain high morale and smooth shifts.
