Job summary

Sweetwater Care seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident response.

The role functions as consultant, educator, and clinician to clinical staff, with emphasis on coordination with nursing leadership and long-term care teams. Requires CRT/RRT and BLS; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Current Finger Print Card Clearance and TB test in the last year.
• Home care/long-term care experience preferred.
• Effective communication with residents, families, staff, physicians and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures per physician orders and assess resident needs.
• Deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident response.
• Set up and manage medical gases, ventilatory support, humidification, and airway management.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Coordinate equipment orders and maintenance.
• Develop discharge plans and follow-up for respiratory therapy services.
• Document resident care and communicate changes to the care team.
• Provide education to residents and staff as needed.
