Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist/RT in the practicing state.
• Current BLS; ACLS preferred.
• TB test current within last year.
• Physical within last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card.
• Ventilator unit experience; LTC or skilled nursing preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families, staff, physicians and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, testing, education.
• Administers respiratory therapy including oxygen, ventilation and airway management.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, aerosols, meds, ventilatory support and chest therapy.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management and quality improvement.
• Ensures rehab department reimbursement, billing and records compliance.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy and life support.
• Coordinates equipment orders and maintenance; documents needs and choices.
• Communicates with residents and families; updates care plans as needed.
• Develops discharge plans and tracks follow-up for equipment and services.
