Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident responses.

You will function as consultant, educator and clinician to clinical staff, coordinate with nursing leadership, manage ventilator support, oxygen therapy and patient education, while ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state practiced.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Clearance is required.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical examination within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination card.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers and regulators.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care procedures per physician orders and assesses resident response.
• Administers therapies, monitors ventilation, oxygen, and carbon dioxide.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, and ventilatory support.
• Follows rehab department clinical management, including care planning and quality improvement.
• Ensures equipment records and documentation of resident care and billing where applicable.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into day-to-day practice; trains staff as needed.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support across the center.
• Coordinates equipment orders and documentation with referral sources, physicians, residents/families.
• Communicates changes in resident condition and updates care plans accordingly.
• Develops discharge plans and tracks preventative maintenance for respiratory equipment.
• Assesses developmental needs across life span and adapts care considerations accordingly.
• Provides general medical equipment and supplies per physician orders.
• Performs other duties as needed.
