Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Stockton, CA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy, and evaluate responses. The role requires BLS, RT certification, ventilator experience, and ability to coordinate care with nursing staff.

ACLS preferred, and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RT (RT/RRT) in the applicable state.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Strong communication skills to maintain relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
• Finger Print Clearance and TB test current.
• COVID vaccination/card status as required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care including therapy, ventilation, airway management, and monitoring.
• Set up and administer gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, and ventilatory support.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory therapy care and life support.
• Coordinate equipment needs and communicate with physicians, residents, families.
• Develop discharge plans and follow up on equipment maintenance.
• Maintain resident records and equipment documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
