Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs and evaluate responses. The role acts as a consultant, educator, and clinician to the clinical staff.

The incumbent will administer therapy, manage ventilation and airway care, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Strong communication and collaboration with nursing leadership are essential to support resident care

Qualifications

• Must be a CRT/RT in the state where practiced.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Clearance required.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card requirement.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, education for residents and families.
• Administers respiratory therapy including intermittent/continuous therapy, mechanical ventilation, airway management, and monitoring.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support and chest physiotherapy per patient needs.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management, quality improvement, care planning and clinical utilization.
• Coordinates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily nursing practice; trains staff as needed.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory care and life support across the nursing center; supports efficient operation.
• Coordinates equipment orders and documentation; assesses resident needs to select appropriate equipment/services.
• Communicates resident status changes to physicians and care teams and updates care plans accordingly.
• Develops and implements discharge plans; tracks preventative maintenance for respiratory equipment.
