Job summary

Sweetwater Care in California seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpreting physician orders and assessing resident needs. You will deliver prescribed therapy, evaluate responses, and function as a consultant, educator, and clinician to clinical staff.

The role requires CRT or RRT certification, BLS, and ventilator unit experience; ACLS preferred. You will collaborate with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice

Qualifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist certification required.
• Licensed/registered in the state of practice.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Clearance.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID-19 vaccination card.
• Ventilator unit experience preferred; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Effective communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care and education.
• Administers therapy including intermittent and continuous therapy, mechanical ventilation, and oxygen monitoring.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support, and airway management.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management, quality improvement, and care planning.
• Manages reimbursement, billing, resident records, and equipment records.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice; trains staff.
• Assesses and evaluates respiratory care and life support across the facility; adjusts care plans.
• Coordinates equipment orders/services with staff, physicians, residents, families; assesses needs.
• Communicates changes in resident condition and updates care plans accordingly.
• Develops discharge plans and follows up on equipment maintenance.
• Addresses developmental needs across life span in care delivery.
