Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• TB test current within the last year.
• Physical examination within the last 6 months.
• COVID-19 vaccination/card required.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, tests, education.
• Provides safe administration of respiratory care including therapy and monitoring.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, humidification, medications and ventilatory support.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management, QA and care planning.
• Ensures billing, records and equipment documentation comply with policy.
• Coordinates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Assesses and plans respiratory therapy and life support across all resident areas.
• Manages equipment coordination and order fulfillment with providers and physicians.
• Develops discharge plans and tracks preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Assesses developmental needs for all ages and adjusts care accordingly.
