Job description

Role:

Responsible for assessing, planning, performing, and evaluating respiratory care treatments to meet patient needs.

Key duties:

Conduct thorough patient assessments, establish care plans, communicate with healthcare team, perform therapeutic modalities (e.g., aerosolized meds, oxygen therapy, airway management), operate mechanical ventilators, provide patient and family education, assist with intra-hospital transports, manage acute airway emergencies, monitor patients with non-invasive tools, and support discharge planning.

Additional responsibilities:

Collect arterial blood gases, maintain patient confidentiality, serve as Shift Coordinator after one year, assist with bronchoscopy procedures, invasive line placement, and hemodynamic measurements. Also, act as a preceptor for students and new staff.

Qualifications:

Graduate from a Specialty Training Program, with required registration as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Skills:

Strong assessment, communication, technical, and patient education skills, along with adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

This role is primarily performed in a clinical environment, focusing on delivering high-quality respiratory care and supporting team collaboration.
