The Leonard Florence Center for Living, located in scenic and historic "Admirals Hill" in Chelsea, MA, is part of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare—a non-profit, mission-driven organization that has been providing innovative care to the elderly and disabled in Massachusetts for over 100 years!

The Leonard Florence Center for Living sets the stage for a model of care that is far removed from traditional nursing homes. The goal of the Leonard Florence Center is to create a "real" home that provides exceptional care while supporting those seeking to redefine the worth and meaning of late life and those living with debilitating diseases. It is the first urban Green House skilled nursing facility in the country, with three homes dedicated to caring for individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease) and multiple sclerosis (M.S.). Most recently, we opened a state-of-the-art Ventilator Unit—the only one of its kind in the world!

The award-winning Leonard Florence Center for Living Green House is a revolutionary, state-of-the-art skilled nursing residence. In Fall 2020, we opened a Ventilator Unit equipped with state-of-the-art technology, allowing residents to live independently in a home-like setting while receiving skilled nursing and compassionate care with dignity and respect.

Position Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) administers various types of respiratory therapy, including oxygen, therapeutic and medicinal gases, mist inhalation, and aerosolized drugs to our residents.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide kind and compassionate care to our residents
• Observe residents: chart and report changes in residents' conditions, such as response to medication or treatment
• Read physician's orders to determine treatment requirements
• Deliver prescribed procedures and treatments to residents
• Notify nursing department or physician of adverse reactions and document in patient's chart
• Prepare and maintain patient charts per departmental policy
• Inspect and test all equipment prior to use

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid RRT Massachusetts licensure in Respiratory Therapy
• Strong clinical assessment skills
• Valid CPR certification; BLS, ACLS
• Maintain educational competency as required by regulations
