Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist to provide direct respiratory care in our hospital setting. The incumbent will manage prescribed oxygen delivery, assist with ventilator support, and perform diagnostic and blood gas analyses under physician orders and approved protocols.

Applicants must be a Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program, hold an NBRC-credentialed RRT license, and be licensed where employed. BLS and facility-specific certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate degree in respiratory therapy required; BA/BS preferred.
• RRT credential and/licensure in the state where you work; BLS required; advanced facility certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery modes and related equipment; conducts prescribed therapies.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates and monitors mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; understands critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies, makes recommendations on plans of care and patient education.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
• Works independently across patient care areas and is proficient in EMR interfaces.
• Follows safety guidelines; completes regulatory requirements and proficiency evaluations.
