Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Park Ridge is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patient assessment using pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiographs, and labs, and to interpret blood gases and electrolytes. You will operate ventilators, assist physicians, and provide prescribed therapies in both critical and non-critical care areas.

The role requires an Associate degree in Respiratory Care, an active state license, NBRC RRT/CRT credentials, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree.
• No experience required.
• Licensure: RCP license in the state; NBRC RRT or CRT credential.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA.
• Education/Certification Addendum may apply per site requirements.

Responsibilities

• Use respiratory therapy processes to assess patients using diagnostics, radiography, labs, and blood gas interpretation.
• Operate ventilators in critical and non-critical care and assist physicians with procedures.
• Provide medications and therapies per physician orders or respiratory protocols.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure functionality of equipment.
• Educate patients on therapy purpose, technique, self-care, and disease management.
• Collaborate with other departments to educate on patient management.
• Follow policies and adapt to different service areas; maintain standards.
• Provide clear, timely patient handoffs to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote safety by applying proper measures and reporting safety events.
• Teach and precept new teammates and students.
• Assess age-specific patient needs and growth/development considerations.
