Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care across multiple Advocate Health hospitals in Illinois. The role involves using respiratory therapy to assess patients, operate ventilators, provide prescribed therapies, and educate patients.

You will collaborate with physicians and other teams to ensure safe, effective care in diverse settings. Graduate with an associate degree in respiratory care, hold an RCP license, and NBRC credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with an associate degree or higher.
• RCP license issued by the state of practice.
• Active NBRC credentials (RRT or CRT) within the required timeframe.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Experience not required but helpful.

Responsibilities

• Uses respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment using pulmonary diagnostics, radiography, hemodynamics, labs, and blood gas/electrolyte interpretation.
• Operates ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings and assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Delivers prescribed therapies and medications per orders or protocol.
• Maintains and troubleshoots equipment and ensures proper functioning.
• Educates patients on purpose, technique, self-care, and disease management.
