Job summary

Kindred Hospital San Diego is a 70-bed long-term acute care facility seeking a Respiratory Therapist to administer care, monitor ventilation, and support patient recovery. You will work under physician orders, assess patients, and participate in the care plan.

The role requires expertise with ABG analyses, airway management, and collaboration with the medical team. A CA respiratory therapy license and BLS/ACLS are required; prior LTAC experience is preferred. On-site in San Diego.

Qualifications

• Must have CA Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP) upon hire.
• BCLS and ACLS required upon hire or within facility timelines.
• CRT or RRT credential upon hire preferred.
• 1+ year related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Respiratory Care procedures per policy and physician orders.
• Document and charge all respiratory care procedures accurately.
• Verify and initiate physician orders for respiratory care.
• Demonstrate competency with respiratory care equipment and sterilization.
• Manage oxygen and ventilation devices, including invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
• Perform airway management, suctioning, and assis­t with intubation as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians for bronchoscopy procedures.
• Conduct ABG sampling and analysis; monitor results and quality control.
• Teach patients and families; provide handoff reports to the care team.
• Participate in rounds and department trainings.
