Job summary

Advocate Children’s Hospital - Park Ridge is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for 3rd shift, 36 hours per week, and weekend coverage. The role provides comprehensive respiratory care, operates ventilators, administers therapies, educates patients, and collaborates with care teams to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications include a respiratory therapy associate degree, NBRC CRT certification within 45 days, BLS, and other certifications as required by leadership.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• NBRC CRT certification within 45 days.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers is required.
• ACLS, PALS, ACCS, NRP, and NPS certifications may be required per leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care per standards.
• Operate ventilators in critical and non-critical settings; assist physicians.
• Deliver medication therapies as prescribed and educate patients.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; ensure safety and readiness.
• Educate patients on therapy, self-care, and disease management.
• Collaborate with departments to support patient care and education.
• Adhere to policies, adapt to service area requirements, and uphold safety.
• Promote safety culture and report incidents and near misses.
• Assess age-specific patient needs and plan appropriate care.
