GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies. (55%)
2. Completes documentation required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness, such as charting, billing, IPOC, and patient/family education. (20%)
3. Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies. (20%)
4. Provides instruction to patients and other healthcare team members as needed. (5%)
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program.
• Pennsylvania state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care prior to TPP expiration.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Two years of experience in pulmonary/respiratory medicine in a hospital setting.
