GENERAL OVERVIEW

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

Responsibilities

1. Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies. (55%)
2. Completes documentation required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness, including charting, billing, IPOC, and patient/family education. (20%)
3. Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies. (20%)
4. Provides instruction to patients and other healthcare team members as needed. (5%)
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program.
• Pennsylvania state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care required prior to TPP expiration.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Two years' experience in pulmonary/respiratory medicine in a hospital setting.
