Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Willows, CA seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate resident responses.

You will function as a consultant, educator and clinician to clinical staff, coordinating equipment use and ventilator care in a long-term care setting. This role requires CRT/RRT, BLS, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Must hold CRT or RRT license/certification in the practicing state.
• High school diploma required.
• BLS current; ACLS preferred.
• Fingerprint clearance required.
• Tuberculosis test current within last year.
• Physical within last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTAC or skilled nursing preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families, staff, physicians and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines in the practicing state.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures and interpret physician orders accurately.
• Assess resident needs and deliver prescribed therapy with ongoing evaluation of response.
• Set up and manage respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, humidification and medications.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice.
• Oversee case management, quality improvement, care planning and documentation.
• Coordinate equipment orders and maintenance; document needs from referrals or physicians.
• Develop discharge plans and ensure follow-up for respiratory therapy services.
• Provide resident and family education on respiratory care and device use.
• Assist with regulatory compliance and billing records as applicable.
