Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Helper to assist drivers in collecting solid waste and recyclables from residential customers in Jacksonville, FL.

The role involves loading, sorting, and assisting with safe vehicle operation along with routine safety checks on equipment. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred), 1–3 months of related experience, and a valid driver’s license (preferred).

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate with others.
• Able to follow instructions and perform duties under limited supervision.
• Able to operate any equipment necessary to perform job.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste/recyclables from customer premises or curbside.
• Load waste into truck safely with assistance from the driver.
• Sort recyclables and deposit in correct compartments when applicable.
• Assist driver in safe vehicle operation and in space maneuvering.
• Operate truck equipment to compact materials.
• Audit vehicle equipment prior to leaving branch.
• Report customer problems to the driver.
• Identify and remove prohibited waste items.
• Maintain route quality and safety standards.
• Wear required PPE at all times.
