Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Helper to assist drivers in collecting solid waste and recyclables from residential customers. The role involves loading materials, aiding in safe vehicle operation, and maintaining clean equipment and routes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED desired, but not required.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training desired, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred, not required.
• Must meet safety-sensitive criteria per company standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste/recyclables from customer premises or curbside.
• Load waste into rear or side of collection vehicle.
• Sort recyclables and deposit into appropriate compartments.
• Assist driver in safe operation and maneuvering of the vehicle.
• Operate equipment to compact trash/materials in the truck.
• Audit vehicle equipment prior to leaving the branch.
• Report customer problems to the driver immediately.
• Adhere to safety checks and company rules.
