GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Helper to assist drivers in collecting solid waste and recyclables from residential locations in Kendallville, IN. The role involves loading waste, sorting recyclables, and supporting safe vehicle operation.

You will follow safety procedures, maintain route quality, and wear PPE throughout the shift. The position emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and drivers.

Qualifications

• Good communication and ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and follow safety protocols.
• Ability to operate or assist with equipment used for waste collection and handling.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste/recyclables from customer premises or curbside.
• Load waste into collection vehicle and sort recyclables as needed.
• Assist driver with safe vehicle operation and backing in tight spaces.
• Operate equipment to compact trash/materials in the truck.
• Audit truck equipment prior to leaving the branch.
• Identify and remove prohibited items from waste carts.
• Follow safety checks and company rules on vehicle operation.
• Maintain route quality and assist with routing improvements.
• Wear required PPE at all times and present a professional demeanor.
• Keep cab and exterior of vehicle clean and assist with warehouse tasks.
• Attend safety and branch meetings and perform other duties as needed.
