Job summary

Adelbrook is seeking a Residential Support Counselor to provide direct care, guidance, and behavioral support to residents with ASD/IDD in residential and community settings.

The role requires trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to promote independence and life skills. A high school diploma is required; higher education in psychology or related field is preferred, with experience in similar settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or related human services field.
• Experience: At least one year working with individuals with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in a residential or community setting.
• Flexible to work across various educational, residential, and group home settings as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet transportation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support residents' behavior using trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement.
• Implement individualized behavioral support plans to promote skill-building and positive behaviors.
• Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention using PMT techniques.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, meals, and housekeeping.
• Organize structured therapeutic and recreational activities to foster socialization and growth.
• Transport residents to medical appointments and community activities.
• Maintain accurate records in the EHR system.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure consistent support.
• Participate in staff meetings and treatment planning.
