Adelbrook is hiring a Residential Support Counselor for Middletown House to provide trauma-informed care and structured support for children, adolescents, and young adults with ASD/IDD. Flexibility with shifts, driving residents to appointments, and accurate record-keeping in the EHR are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: At least one year of work with individuals with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in residential or community settings.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support residents' behavior using trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement techniques.
• Implement PBSPs to promote skill-building and positive behaviors.
• Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention using PMT techniques.
• Teach ADLs and assist with hygiene, meals, and household tasks.
• Organize structured therapeutic and recreational activities to encourage socialization.
• Transport residents to medical appointments and community programs.
• Maintain accurate records in the EHR system.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure consistent support.
• Participate in staff meetings and treatment planning discussions.
• Follow procedures for emergencies and mandatory reporting.
• Maintain certification in PMT crisis intervention training.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Support safety checks and proper supervision.
• May be mandated to relocate residents for appropriate care.
• Work additional hours as needed, including overtime.
• May be required to work holidays or inclement weather.
