Job summary

Adelbrook is seeking a Residential Support Counselor for the New Britain House in New Britain, CT. The role provides direct care, guidance, and behavioral support to residents with ASD/IDD in a structured, trauma-informed environment, promoting independence and life skills development.

Responsibilities include implementing PBSPs, supervising residents, teaching ADLs, organizing therapeutic activities, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• Required: high school diploma or equivalent; preferred: 1 year work with individuals with emotional/behavioral/ developmental disabilities.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree related to human services.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support residents with trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement.
• Implement behavioral support plans to promote skill-building.
• Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist with daily living activities and transportation as required.
• Organize structured activities to promote socialization and growth.
• Maintain accurate records in the EHR system and communicate with the team.
