Job summary

Adelbrook is seeking a Vocational Support Counselor for Cromwell Academy in Cromwell, CT. This role provides direct support to students with ASD/IDD across vocational, educational, and community settings, helping build job readiness, interviewing skills, and professional social behavior.

The position follows a 219-day school schedule (37.5 hours/week) with flexibility for varied shifts, travel to sites, and vocational coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraprofessional Certification required upon hire.
• 2+ years of experience working with youth in educational or vocational programs preferred.
• Must complete and maintain agency-required certifications (PMT, CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, ATS. DDS Medication).
• Valid driver’s license required with an A endorsement per CT DOT standards.
• Willingness to travel between locations and work across classroom, job site and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist vocational staff with classroom-based job readiness instruction and skill development.
• Support students in learning interview techniques, job applications and workplace expectations.
• Provide on-site supervision and mentoring at job placements and vocational sites.
• Model professional behavior and help students navigate workplace social expectations.
• Transport students to interviews, job tours and community-based opportunities.
• Observe and document student progress and report concerns to vocational leadership.
