Job summary

Vinfen is seeking a Residential Counselor in Connecticut to provide direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in small group homes or individual living arrangements. You will collaborate with residents, families, and staff to build independence and improve quality of life, administer medications under MAC, implement treatment plans, and help with daily living activities, transportation, and community integration.

Driving is required.

Qualifications

• Typical Requirements: At least one year of experience and/or training in a related function is preferred.
• Preferred /Required Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting treatment, including ISP/IPs and clinical programs.
• Provides training and support to persons served, including rehabilitative and behavioral interventions and monitoring, fire & safety regulations, appointment scheduling, money management, ADLs, grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking, and other related areas.
• Assists individuals in becoming fully integrated into their communities and plans recreational and social activities to promote emotional well-being and quality of life.
• Provides transportation as necessary.
• Assesses residents’ physical and emotional status and reports changes to supervisor.
• Maintains records for persons served and logs data in the electronic health record.
• Stores, administers, documents and disposes of medications per MAC and policy.
• Communicates with program staff and external providers; participates in mandated training and meetings.
• Ensures safety, regulatory compliance, and completion of required paperwork; maintains staff-to-consumer ratios.
• Functions as human rights advocate and may provide physical intervention or first aid in emergencies.
