Job summary

Vinfen is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in small group or individual living arrangements. You will work with residents, families, and staff to build independence and quality of life.

Responsibilities include medication administration under MAC guidelines, implementing treatment plans, teaching daily living skills, arranging community activities, and transporting residents to appointments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field is preferred.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or acquired brain injury strongly preferred.
• Strong time management and writing skills.
• All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a current, valid US drivers' license for at least 6 months.
• All applicants must be able to become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment and MED certified within 150 days.
• All candidates must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, multi-state background and driving record check

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting treatment, including ISP/IPs and clinical programs.
• Provides training and support to persons served, including rehabilitative and behavioral interventions.
• Assists individuals in becoming fully integrated into their communities and plans recreational activities.
• Provides transportation as necessary.
• Monitors residents' funds and reports changes to supervisor.
• Maintains records and documents incidents, programs, and routine activities.
• Stores, administers, documents and disposes of medication per MAC requirements and policy.
• Communicates with program nurse, funding agency, case managers, and other service providers.
• Participates in mandated training and staff meetings; assists with orientation of new staff.
• Ensures program site safety and maintenance; performs general housekeeping and related tasks.
• Follows safety policies and completes required paperwork and logs.
• Maintains staff-to-consumer ratio and performs last-minute coverage as needed.
• Acts as a human rights advocate and can provide first aid during emergencies.
• Maintains required certifications and follows Vinfen policies.
• Performs other related duties as required.
