Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance, complete work orders, and prepare units for new residents at a San Francisco property. Responsibilities include HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and maintaining common areas to support a quality living environment.

You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor or Community Manager. A 5-day onsite schedule with on-call duties and safety compliance are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2+ years in property management or related experience.
• HVAC and/or CPO license preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
• Prepare vacant units for new residents, including painting, cleaning, and repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and follow a preventive maintenance schedule.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and be on-call as required.
• Ensure work complies with safety regulations and report hazards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and stock; keep the shop organized.
• Complete work orders and document maintenance activities.
