Job description

Why is This a Great Opportunity?

This is an opportunity for an experienced residential construction professional to join a growing St. Louis-area organization focused on high-quality custom residential construction and renovation projects.

The Project Manager will step into an important role with significant ownership and visibility across the organization. Rather than serving in a support capacity, this individual will be responsible for driving multiple projects forward while overseeing schedules, budgets, subcontractor coordination, documentation, and client communication.

The organization offers a collaborative environment where Project Managers work closely with field leadership, construction professionals, clients, and company leadership. The team is looking for someone who can bring established residential construction knowledge while also contributing ideas that improve project execution and internal processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical and operational aspects of residential construction but also values client interaction, autonomy, teamwork, and the ability to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization.

Job Description:

The Project Manager will oversee multiple residential construction projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring each project is executed efficiently while meeting expectations for quality, schedule, budget, and client experience.

This position is primarily focused on project management and coordination, with dedicated field leadership supporting day-to-day construction activities at project sites. The Project Manager will remain actively involved with each project through regular site visits, meetings, and ongoing communication with the field team.

  • Manage multiple custom residential construction and renovation projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project budgets and construction schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, and other resources required for successful project execution.
  • Develop project sequencing plans and anticipate upcoming trade, labor, and material needs.
  • Work closely with field leadership to ensure project activities remain aligned with schedules, budgets, quality expectations, and client commitments.
  • Serve as a primary point of communication for homeowners throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain proactive communication regarding project progress, schedule updates, scope changes, and other relevant developments.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, project records, and related documentation.
  • Monitor project costs and identify potential budget or scheduling concerns early.
  • Coordinate with architects, designers, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and conduct regular site visits.
  • Identify construction challenges and develop practical solutions that minimize delays and disruption.
  • Maintain high standards for construction quality and overall project execution.
  • Balance client expectations with project scope, schedule, budget, and business objectives.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects while maintaining consistent communication with internal leadership.
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of project-management systems, processes, and overall project performance.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of residential construction management experience, preferably within project management, site supervision, general contracting, custom home construction, remodeling, or renovation.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing residential construction projects.
  • Experience with custom residential construction, high-end remodeling, major renovations, additions, or architecturally detailed projects is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, sequencing, and project execution.
  • Practical field knowledge and the ability to effectively evaluate construction-related issues.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience developing and maintaining construction schedules and project budgets.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor coordination, material procurement, contracts, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Ability to proactively plan project activities and anticipate upcoming construction needs.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to navigate project challenges professionally.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with field leadership, subcontractors, architects, designers, vendors, clients, and internal team members.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
  • Team-oriented approach with a willingness to contribute to a collaborative working environment.
