Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Instructor to oversee consumer supervision and program operations in home settings. You will ensure safety, document progress, and implement agency policies to promote a secure, engaging environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education), a valid driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid/PMT/DDS certifications; must lift up to 75 pounds and maintain professional standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years' experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis; education can substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured; may need to travel in Agency vehicle or own vehicle.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain/maintain CPR, First Aid, PMT and DDS certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs.
• Document shift activities, incidents, and consumer data in Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
• Maintain safety, appearance, cleanliness, and conduct safety inspections.
• Adhere to Agency policies, licensing regulations, and DDS contracts.
• Act as advocate and role model, treating individuals with respect and dignity.
• Assist with hygiene and daily care for consumers.
• Document all welfare-related activities in logbooks and forms.
• Distribute medications according to schedules and DDS guidelines.
• Provide activities and supervise consumers during each shift.
