Job summary

CharterWest Bank in Omaha, NE is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to assess residential loan files from application to decision. The role collaborates with loan officers, processors, closers and management to ensure accurate underwriting.

Applicants should have 2+ years of underwriting experience, DE certifications, and familiarity with conventional and government loan products including SD Housing.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• DE certifications required, SAR Preferred.
• Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products, including SD Housing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a high-volume pipeline while maintaining exceptional underwriting quality and accuracy.
• The ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Independently underwrite residential mortgage loan files from application to final decision
• Collaborate closely with loan officers, processors, closing and management
• Assist with guideline interpretation, scenario reviews and complex underwriting questions
• Meet established quality, productivity, and turn-time expectations
• Other duties as assigned
