Job summary

CharterWest Bank, a top statewide mortgage lender, seeks an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for our Omaha, NE location. Evaluate and underwrite residential mortgage loans in line with agency, investor, and company guidelines.

The role requires 2+ years of underwriting experience, DE certification, and strong communication skills to manage a high-volume pipeline while maintaining underwriting quality. Excellent benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products.
• DE certifications required; SAR preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Employee is responsible for evaluating and underwriting residential mortgage loans in accordance with agency, investor and company guidelines

• Independently underwrite residential mortgage loan files from application to final decision
• Collaborate closely with loan officers, processors, closing and management
• Assist with guideline interpretation, scenario reviews and complex underwriting questions
• Meet established quality, productivity, and turn-time expectationsOther duties as assigned

Applicants should have:

• 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
• DE certifications required, SAR Preferred
• Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products, including SD Housing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high-volume pipeline while maintaining exceptional underwriting quality and accuracy
• The ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies, risk factors and documentation deficiencies
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
