Job summary

The candidate should have 3–5 years in underwriting, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, experience with FHA/VA/Agency loans, DE endorsement, and knowledge of Encompass LOS. DE/SAR preferences apply.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as an Underwriter and complete knowledge of the mortgage business.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with FHA/ VA/ Agency loans.
• Direct Endorsement (DE)
• LAPP/ SAR preferred.
• Knowledge of Encompass LOS.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite 3–4 new loans per day while minimizing risk by thoroughly analyzing income, credit, assets, ratios, and collateral.
• Maintain 24–48 hour turn times.
• Clear UTC conditions within 24 hours.
• Prepare loans for risk committee.
• Make counter offers on loans that do not conform to products originated.
• Stay updated on investor, agency, FHA, VA, and UHM guideline changes and overlays.
• Ensure accuracy of criteria for specific loan types, products, rates, documentation, and data.
• Maintain Quality Control ratings within company standards.
• Attend seminars and courses to stay abreast of market trends and developments.
• Provide training support to sales and assist in developing new underwriters.
