Job summary

CharterWest Bank in Omaha, NE seeks an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite residential loan files from application to final decision. You will work closely with loan officers, processors and management, interpreting guidelines for conventional and government products while maintaining a high-volume workflow and strong underwriting quality.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• DE certification required; SAR preferred.
• Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume pipeline while maintaining underwriting quality.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently underwrite residential mortgage loan files from application to final decision.
• Collaborate closely with loan officers, processors, closing and management.
• Assist with guideline interpretation, scenario reviews and complex underwriting questions.

CharterWest Bank, a top statewide mortgage lender, is seeking an experienced person for their Mortgage Underwriter position located at our Omaha, NE location. Employee is responsible for evaluating and underwriting residential mortgage loans in accordance with agency, investor and company guidelines

Applicants should have:

• 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
• DE certifications required, SAR Preferred
• Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products, including SD Housing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high-volume pipeline while maintaining exceptional underwriting quality and accuracy
• The ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies, risk factors and documentation deficiencies
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
