Job summary

Homeless Alliance is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep PSH properties and housing programs safe and functional. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, collaborate with the Housing & Leasing team, and address health and safety concerns to support residents and operations.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work on-site in diverse, challenging environments. Flexible scheduling and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of related maintenance experience.
• Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address maintenance needs, including leaks and safety hazards.
• Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances.
• Repair or replace fixtures, doors, windows, and other unit components.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance to ensure timely tasks.
• Maintain clean and operational water heaters, HVAC systems, and filters.
• Prioritize work orders with Director of Housing & Leasing to optimize resources.
• Address health and safety hazards, including mold, lead, or pests.
• Prepare vacant units for new clients, including cleaning and minor repairs.
• Communicate clearly with clients about repairs and schedules; minimize disruptions.
• Maintain maintenance office and records of time and materials used.
