Job summary

Vander Hyde Mechanical seeks an experienced Residential Service HVAC Manager in Grand Rapids, MI. You will oversee daily operations of the residential HVAC service division, lead technicians, ensure safety/compliance, and drive profitability through efficient scheduling and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate combines strong HVAC expertise with leadership, communication, and business management skills, directing service quality and growth in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in residential HVAC service with leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting, and codes.
• Proven leadership, team development, and communication skills.
• Experience with service management software and scheduling systems.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of residential HVAC service technicians and apprentices.
• Plan, schedule, and dispatch service calls to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure all work complies with state/local codes and company safety regulations.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, coaching, and training.
• Oversee troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of complex HVAC issues.
• Manage inventory, tools, and materials for technician readiness.
• Monitor job costs, labor hours, and departmental profitability.
• Develop strategies to improve service quality, productivity, and revenue.
• Handle escalated customer concerns and ensure positive resolution.
• Collaborate with sales teams to identify service upgrades and maintenance agreements.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, inspections, and compliance.
