Job summary

Zero Homes is hiring a System Designer to join our in-house technical team in Denver. You will complete Manual J/S, scope electrical upgrades to NEC 220.83, and specify water heater and battery upgrades for energy-efficient homes.

Collaborate with home comfort advisors, sales, and installation managers to ensure designs meet customer specs and codes. You will also develop design docs, specs, and quotes, guiding Field Operations to high-quality heat pump solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of system design experience; load calculations and energy modeling.
• Deep understanding of residential buildings, MEP, heat pump tech.
• Fluency with data-driven tools like spreadsheets and Python.
• Excellent communication and collaboration; team player.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete Manual J/S with HVAC design software and scope electrical upgrades per NEC 220.83.
• Specify water heater and battery upgrades; scope weatherization projects.
• Develop design documents, plans, specs, and quotes for Field Operations.
• Establish quality control to ensure heat pump designs meet standards.
