Job summary

University of Michigan's Student Life Facilities seeks a Building Facilities Manager to supervise a team ensuring clean, safe, and well‑maintained residential facilities. You will coordinate with Housing, Dining, and other units to support student living and learning environments.

The role may require some evening or weekend hours and includes budget oversight, payroll, procurement, and implementing work orders while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations.
• Minimum two years of direct supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication for customer relations.
• Two years of fiscal coordination and business control.
• Experience with computerized work order, timekeeping, and purchasing systems.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Google tools and email.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, feedback, and corrective action.
• Administer payroll, budget development and management, and procurement.
• Use automated systems to initiate work orders and purchase orders.
• Coordinate tasks with campus partners and oversee budget adherence.
• Maintain building access control and ensure safety and code compliance.
