Job summary

Community Teamwork in Lowell, MA is seeking a Residential Counselor to support clients in a congregate emergency shelter. The role focuses on life skills coaching, safety, and adherence to house rules, using trauma-informed, client-centered approaches.

Responsibilities include intake, crisis intervention when needed, documenting activities, and maintaining a safe, organized site. Schedule weekends overnight 12AM-8AM with compensation including the overnight differential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent crisis management skills.
• Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection.
• Good attention to detail.

Residential Counselor

Schedule: Every Saturday and every Sunday 12AM-8AM

Pay Range $20.59 - $21.21 per hour + eligible for $3.00 per hour shift differential for working the overnight (3rd) shift

Position Summary

This Residential Counselor will work in our Shelter Staff program and will be responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations, which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma-informed and client-centered approach. Other responsibilities include: assisting with screening, intake activities and orientation of new clients into the shelter program; providing guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, house rules and policies; overseeing security and safety; completing housekeeping duties; ensuring daily chores are completed; providing emergency crisis management to individuals.
