Job summary

Community Teamwork is seeking Residential Counselors for a part-time, 16-hour schedule in Lowell, MA. 2nd shift (evenings) includes Saturday and Sunday 4pm-12am; 3rd shift (overnights) 12am-8am on weekends with a $3.00 shift differential for overnights.

Responsibilities include working in a shelter setting, ensuring safety, enforcing rules, and providing life skills support with trauma-informed, client-centered care. Prior human services experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in human services or working with individuals in need of social services preferred.
• Strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills required.
• Excellent crisis management skills.
• Proficient with basic computer software and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site.

• Respond to emergencies, document appropriately, and communicate per guidelines.
• Complete intake for new guests.
• Provide support and structure for guests, addressing problems.

Pay Range $20.59 to $21.21 per hour

Position Summary

This Residential Counselor will work in our Shelter Staff program and will be responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations, which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma-informed and client-centered approach.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site
• Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately, and communicate according to established guidelines
• Complete the intake process for new guests
• Provide support and structure, addressing guest/resident problems or concerns
• Initiate crisis intervention when necessary
• Record documentation as required by program guidelines
• Uphold the values of CTI - Equity, Integrity, Compassion

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• At least one year of previous experience working in the human services field with individuals in need of social services (preferably low income individuals) is required
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent crisis management skills
• Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection
• Good attention to detail
