Shelter House, Inc. is seeking a Residential Coordinator in Alexandria, VA to provide essential 24-hour awake coverage for 20 efficiency apartments and act as the first point of contact for residents.

The role focuses on crisis intervention, safety, and supportive services to help residents achieve stability. The Residential Coordinator will work closely with case managers, maintain thorough documentation, and ensure a positive living environment while upholding shelter policies and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of experience in human services (e.g., mental health, homeless, domestic violence).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
• Experience in programs serving homeless families is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour awake coverage and supervision of 20 apartment units.
• Be the first point of contact for client needs and crisis intervention.
• Maintain front desk operations and a safe shelter environment.
• Collaborate with case managers to reinforce service plans.
• Document daily interactions and events in the shelter log.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies and best practices.
• Assist with organizing supplies and housekeeping tasks.
• Participate in staff meetings and training.
