Job summary

Shelter House, Inc is seeking a Residential Coordinator to provide essential 24-hour awake coverage at Artemis House Region 1 in Northern Virginia. The role serves as the lead on shift, handling crisis response, front desk operations and maintaining a safe, supportive living environment for residents.

This full-time night-shift position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations, requires a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in human services, with strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of experience in human services is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and a safe environment for clients.
• Monitor calls and inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
• Respond to crisis calls and complete safety plans and assessments.
• Maintain daily logs documenting interactions and events.
• Collaborate with case managers to support service plans.
• Assist with court visits and appointments to support client goals.
• Submit shift handoffs and report daily activities for continuity.
• Ensure documentation complies with agency policies and best practices.
• Distribute basic needs items and maintain client dignity and privacy.
• Learn and apply emergency procedures for safety and health incidents.
• Conduct client assessments for imminent danger and provide safe havens.
• Assist with medication delivery and security as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor.
