Job summary

Shelter House, Inc. is seeking a Residential Coordinator in Alexandria, VA to provide 24-hour awake coverage for 20 units and serve as the first point of contact for residents. You will handle crisis intervention, front desk operations, and safety management while supporting a positive living environment.

The role requires strong communication, relationship-building, and teamwork. Evening/weekend availability and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office are preferred.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of experience in human services field i.e., mental health, substance abuse, homeless and domestic violence.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and a safe environment for clients.
• Monitor visitor check-in and front desk calls and inquiries.
• Perform rounds and monitor building grounds.
• Update the daily log documenting interactions and events.
• Collaborate with case managers to support and reinforce service plans.
