Job summary

Shelter House is seeking a Residential Coordinator in Alexandria, VA to provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and supervision of 20 efficiency-style apartment units for single individuals. The role serves as first contact for client needs, handles crisis intervention, facilities management, and ensures a safe living environment within the shelter.

You will work closely with case managers, document interactions, and assist with daily operations while upholding Shelter House core values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in human services field (homelessness, mental health, domestic violence) preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe functioning of the shelter and maintain a safe environment for clients.
• Monitor front desk, visitor check-in, and inquiries.
• Conduct rounds and inspect building grounds.
• Update daily log with client interactions and events.
• Collaborate with case managers to support client service plans.
• Maintain documentation for Shelter House logs in compliance with policies.
• Assist with basic shelter needs and distribute items as needed.
• Perform residential cleaning and organize supplies.
