Job summary

Shelter House in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Residential Coordinator to provide 24-hour awake coverage for 20 efficiency apartment units and serve as the first point of contact for residents. The role focuses on crisis intervention, front desk operations, and maintaining a safe living environment.

You will collaborate with case managers to support client service plans, document daily activities, and ensure policy compliance. Evening/weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of experience in human services (e.g., mental health, homelessness, domestic violence).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and maintain a safe environment for clients.
• Monitor visitor check-in and front desk inquiries.
• Perform rounds and monitor the building grounds.
• Update the daily log by documenting interactions with clients and significant events.
• Work with case managers to support and reinforce the client’s service plan.
