Job summary

Breaking Ground in Brooklyn seeks an Assistant Building Director, Security for 90 Sands to oversee daily security operations and staff, ensuring safety and code compliance for residents. You will coordinate with social services and manage security contracts.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least five years of supervisory experience in a large residential building, with preferred S95 and Fire Life Safety certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or Trade School diploma.
• Minimum of 5 years in supervisory capacity in a large residential building.
• Familiarity with non-profit organizations is a plus.
• S95 certificated preferred or willingness to obtain certification within described time period.
• Fire Life Safety Director certificate preferred.
• Training in security and fire safety preferred.
• Strong verbal and written skills; ability to supervise many staff and manage a large building.
• On-call availability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day security responsibilities for the building.
• Ensure building compliance with fire safety codes.
• Assist in annual building-wide inspections conducted by DHS, DOH, DOB, FDNY and others.
• Review and respond to security incidents.
• Work with Building Director and social services to address resident issues.
• Oversee 24/7, contracted security staff and manage vendor relationships.
• Manage annual budget for Security department.
• Collaborate with outside vendors, negotiate contracts and resolve issues.
• Represent Breaking Ground at local community events.
