Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin is seeking a Resident Specialist III to support state-supported living centers serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes environmental care, safety, cleanliness, and collaboration with residential and support staff.

The position involves overseeing environmental programs, reporting deficiencies, coordinating inspections, and maintaining facilities.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience working with individuals with Intellectual disabilities in a residential living facility.
• Experience with Life Safety codes and standards; environmental services; and facility inspection practices.
• Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the quality of resident living and workshop environments, and support services provided to clients in their living environments.
• Oversee building life safety appurtenances, health environmental issues, respond to emergencies or complaints per policy; coordinate environmental programs and inspections.
• Maintain facility property, equipment, residents’ personal effects, and supervise custodial or maintenance activities.
• May train others and participate in disaster response and COOP activities.
