Job summary

Apploi in Illinois is seeking an Activity Assistant to support planning, implementation and evaluation of resident activity programs in a long-term care facility. You will observe participation, document progress, and help ensure care plans are followed.

The role requires patience, good communication in English, and the ability to work with diverse residents. You will collaborate with other departments, prepare spaces, manage supplies, and assist residents with crafts and social activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating the activity programs & quality assurance program in this facility for the Activities Department.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement; document progress and chart resident responses.
• Develop & maintain good rapport with other departments to ensure activities run smoothly and foster a warm, calm environment.
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs and identify equipment and supply needs.
• Clean up activity areas after functions and follow the care plan in daily activities.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and treat residents with dignity.
• Oversee residents in activities to promote well-being and adapt to diagnoses and conditions.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and projects.
