Job summary

Apploi is seeking a qualified Activities Director to plan, implement, and supervise therapeutic and recreational programs for Residents in a long-term care setting. The role requires coordinating assessments, care plans, and collaborative participation in IDT meetings.

The position emphasizes documentation, program supervision, and involvement in marketing and community outreach. Strong English communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential, with prior long-term care

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related area; licensure/registration as applicable by state or nationally.
• Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body.
• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, with one year full-time in a therapeutic activities program.
• Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
• Successful completion of a state-approved training course.
• Written and verbal English communication skills required for business.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Experience in a long-term care setting or related health care field.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities for all Residents in accordance with Federal, State and facility requirements.
• Completes written assessments of residents’ past and present leisure interests and documents in health records.
• Develops care plans based on assessed interests and functioning level.
• Attends care plan meetings and IDT meetings as needed.
• Maintains timely progress notes in health records; notes quarterly or as needed.
• Completes M.D.S. assessment and annual assessment notes.
• Directs the Activity Program and provides supervision during programs.
• Assists Residents in personalizing their rooms.
