Job summary

Apploi is seeking a qualified Activities Director to plan and implement therapeutic activities for all Residents in accordance with Federal, State and facility requirements.

The role includes assessments, care plan development, and timely documentation in health records, with active participation in IDT and care plan meetings in a long-term care setting. Strong English communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related area, licensed or registered.
• Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program in last five years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program.
• Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
• Successfully complete a state-approved training course.
• Written and verbal English communication skills required for business.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Experience in long-term care setting or related health care field.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements therapeutic and purposeful activities for all Residents.
• Completes comprehensive assessments of each Resident’s leisure interests and needs, with documentation in health records.
• Develops care plans based on assessed interests, adapted to functioning level.
• Attends care plan and IDT meetings as needed.
• Maintains progress notes in health records, quarterly or more often as needed.
• Completes MDS and annual assessments timely.
• Directs the Activity Program and supervises Residents during programs.
• Assists Residents in personalizing their rooms.
• Maintains attendance records and related lists/inventories.
• Decorates the Center for current seasons/holidays.
• Maintains inventory and supplies; participates in meetings and trainings.
• Documents contact with community agencies and churches.
• Meets with consultants; participates in promotional/marketing plans.
• Coordinates volunteer program (recruiting, screening, orienting, training, supervision).
• Implements Because We Care Program.
